Course

Description

Family History

This group meets on the last Monday of each month, subject to the school being open. It is an opportunity to talk to people with similar interests; pick up useful tips; ask for advice and use the Internet to access online sources. If you have any particular areas where you require information, please send details in advance. It may be that someone else attending can help.

Introduction to Web Design

Websites are becoming a part of everyday life, this taster session shows you how to create a simple website and upload the information to the web.

If there is sufficient demand a follow on course will be run showing you how to create and maintain your own website. This course will be run by our own webmaster Jon, who has created and maintains the community website www.westparkcommunity.co.uk.

This taster session requires a level of computer knowledge, including file management, internet usage and knowledge of word processing packages.

Cameras & Computers

This session shows you how digital cameras and computers work together and will cover such items as:

  • downloading photographs from camera to computer;
  • saving photographs to CD and memory stick;
  • compressing photographs before e-mailing;
  • inserting photographs into documents;
  • Other areas may be covered depending on the interests of people attending.

Internet for Beginners

This session introduces you what is available on the internet, including: online learning available - this includes the BBC and Open University Courses, plus courses for pleasure from art to zoology.

Computers & Crafts

This session shows you how computers can help you with your crafts and includes: Accessing useful advice on your hobby:

  • Accessing and downloading free patterns and templates;
  • Designing using a computer;
  • Producing cards.

This session shows you how computers can help you prepare for Christmas.

  • Websites for children and adults
  • Recipes
  • Christmas Decorations
  • Buying presents online
Handmade Crafts

These sessions introduce you to different methods of producing gift boxes and cards by hand. No computer knowledge is required.
